2nd Annual ICAN of North Florida SILENT AUCTION

We are so thrilled to announce our 2nd Annual Silent Auction to benefit our chapter.  Last year's auction was a huge success and directly impacted our reach in our community in a big way.  We're very grateful to our donors, both local businesses and artisans alike, who came together to graciously give of their products, time, and talents.

April Meeting - Southside Park in San Marco

Coming to the end of April, it was time for our monthly meeting.  The weather was amazing; bright, sunny, and perfect for this popular park.  All of the children loved watching the freight trains that are known for passing very close by the fence at the back of this park.

Our Mamas gathered together to allow the birth stories to unfold, the experiences, emotions, and support to gather around the tables.  Amidst children darting and playing, we came together, woman to woman.

Thank you, ladies, for coming out.  We're glad to know you and are here for you.

The Great Cloth Diaper Change 2015

What a fluffy success!  27 babies had their cloth diapers changed simultaneously with several hundreds more around the globe at Bay&Bee in Jacksonville, Florida on April 18, 2015. 

Being wonderful hosts, Bay&Bee gave us a space in air conditioned comfort to help fundraise for our chapter, while providing home baked goods made by our members.  Kimberly and I met with lots of local women, and made more than a few friends.  We were both grateful to be a part of such a fun community event, and we're looking forward to next year!  Congratulations to all who "changed" the world record!

The Great Cloth Diaper Change: Changing Bums and World Records!

The Great Cloth Diaper Change 2015 is nearly upon us!  In less a week, babies will have their fluffy bums changed at 11am local time across the globe, to produce a new world record for the most cloth diapers changed simultaneously.  

In Jacksonville, Florida, Bay&Bee will be hosting a GCDC event that is sure to be lots of fun.  Being an indoor, modern playspace, there's more to do than just changing fluff!  Stop by with your kids and check out all they have to offer.  With summer approaching, this beautiful, airy, and enchanting playspace gives kids all the fun, while still in air conditioned comfort.

ICAN of North Florida is proud to host our Bake Sale for the third year in a row at this one of a kind event.  We'll be selling delicious baked goods, made by our dedicated members, along with fresh fruits, and chilled beverages.  One of our biggest fundraisers, this event helps further our outreach within our community.  So stop on by; we'd love to meet you in person!

April Showers Bring... an Adorable Photography Fundraiser!

We'll be singing in the rain, or at least pretending if it's sunny.  Help us to celebrate Cesarean Awareness Month and to raise money for outreach and education in the North Florida area by participating in our spring mini-session fundraiser!

The awesome Jessica Lea Cumbie of Jessica Lea Photography will be shooting 20 minute sessions at a San Marco location throughout the day. These themed mini sessions will include April Showers themed props - Clouds, umbrellas, rain boots, puddles, and more. And if it actually rains? All the better! Bring your kids in their cutest spring clothes or muddy day wear!

Sessions include 10 image downloads and are only $90 for paid ICAN of North Florida members, and $100 to the public. To reserve your spot, Paypal $50 to north.fl@ican-online.org*, as well as your preferred time. The remainder of your fee is due at the session. For other payment arrangements, message Kimberly Hellmuth.

ICAN names Kimberly Hellmuth as February 2015 Volunteer of the Month

As Co-Leader for our chapter, it is with the deepest appreciation that I say Congratulations to our Chapter Leader, Kimberly Hellmuth, for being named ICAN's February 2015 Volunteer of the Month!

A well deserved honor, Kimberly has brought this chapter to where it is today.  It is through her efforts that we are gaining ground in helping women find ICAN chapters for support and education.  It is through her kind words that women find the affirmations, facts, statistics, and information they are seeking for their births.  It is my great pleasure to stand beside her in awe of all that she gives to our chapter, ICAN International, and to women.

January Meeting - Chick Fil A in Orange Park

It was a very cold day on January 28th when we decided to change from our familiar park playdate to the indoor playground at Chick Fil A.  Though ICAN is in no way affiliated with CFA, we were treated with so much hospitality.

Our moms sat together and shared experiences, hopes, sadness, fears, validations, encouragements, and love.  Birth stories were shared all around, while some nodded, others added to them, the space was held for the experience to unfold.

Thank you to our moms who braved the cold, braved showing up to a meeting, and braved being yourselves <3  It's through you that our community grows stronger!
